Abstract

The objectives of this research are (i) to develop a model for managing staff assignments in an institution that organizes various events oftraining; and (ii) to propose a method for determining an optimal policy for the staff assignments. Two preliminary results are obtained. First,an analytical approach is employed to formulate the problem, which resulted in amulti-periodmodel of assignment problem. Second, a heuristic method is proposed to obtain a near-optimum solution for the problem formulated. This research is expected to contribute in providing a tool for managing operations in an educational organization.
