Abstract

The exploration of tragedy and fate between the East and the West has been ongoing for a long time, with significant differences between the two. The tragic fate in Western literature cannot be changed; the protagonist will demonstrate a strong spirit of resistance and individual autonomy through strong resistance and struggle against fate. The tragic fate in Eastern literature is rooted in social reality, and the protagonists are mostly obedient, evasive, or weakly resistant. The difference in tragic fates between Chinese and Western literature stems from differences in culture, religious beliefs, and natural environment.
