Abstract

In 2021, the poverty rate in terms of monetary or government spending in West Pasaman Regency is recorded at 7.51 percent. The problem of poverty is related to agricultural productivity in poverty. The core research aims to analyze the condition of poverty and analyze land productivity on the effect of employment. The type of research used in this research is inductive descriptive research. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained through the Pasaman Regency Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other sources as support with a sample size of 2442 people. The results of the study show that the poor in the type of work carried out by residents in Pasaman work in the agricultural sector, either working on their own land or as agricultural workers/laborers. The extreme poverty rate of 20% is generally located in a Very Steep topography with a slope of >45, Steep (25-45 and Slightly Steep (15-25). Low land productivity in key commodities such as Palm Oil, Rubber, Cocoa, and Coffee is the cause of the low-income population where an average productivity gain of 71.1% is compared to the national average productivity. The reason why people working in the agricultural sector experience poverty is that the scale of the agricultural business they work on is relatively small, only enough to meet basic needs so they can’t grow.
