Proceedings of the 2nd Public Health International Conference (PHICo 2017)

In accordance with its objective as an effort to show that world health issues can be shared and sought solving together with academics, experts, observers, consultants, government and parties related to health problems, the 2nd PHICo was finally held on December 18-19, 2017. This second PHICo theme starts from the differences in the ability of rich and poor countries in facing the global environmental change which mainly gives tremendous effect, especially on the tropical public health problem. This difference of developed and developing countries in facing this problem is seen from the quality of life of the residents in the country. This topic becomes an interesting discussion among public health experts around the world.

Just like the first PHICo, the papers are being divided by the field of public health (panels). The panels are the Environmental Health and Safety, Epidemiology and Surveillance, Health Promotion, Health Policy Analysis, Health Information System, Public Health Nutrition, Reproductive Health and Population, Occupational Health and Safety and Social Pharmacology. This is because of the breadth of coverage of the public health sciences.

At the second PHICo, the guests of honor who came were two experts from the most developed countries around the world, which is the United States. So the event was held in the best hotel in Medan that is JW Marriot Hotel, Medan, North Sumatera. The speakers in the seminar came from four countries, developed countries and developing countries, namely United States, Korea, Thailand and Malaysia. The number ofparticipants of the second PHICo was higher than for the first one. There are 180 participants, and 120 managed to make a presentation in English.

In this second PHICo, the committee also remained overwhelmed by receiving many papers. But we still conducted a more rigorous review process to maintain quality standards. The review process involves the reviewer from neighboring countries and local reviewers, who have become international journal writers. After the three-time review process, it was decided to accept only 40 articles.

Thank you all for your participation and the hard work of the committees. See you at next year Phico 2018.
