Proceedings of the 1st Non Formal Education International Conference (NFEIC 2018)

It is our great pleasure to welcome each and every one to the Non Formal Education International Conference (NFEIC 2018), taking place on August 2 and 3, 2018 at the Conference Room of Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Padang, in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Scientific and pedagogical workers of the non-formal education, doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students were invited to participate in the conference that is organized by hosted by Department of Non-Formal Education Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Padang.

The scientific conference is a platform for sharing and discussing new ideas, experiences, and new policies that are useful in achieving educational goals in Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs). The discussion material consists of explanatory and praxis aspects. First, the explanatory aspect that comes from the study of researchers. Second, the praxis aspect that comes from the professional experience of NGO practitioners. The both of discussion materials are related in achieving the educational objectives according to SDGs. The discussion material comes from various background studies such as administration, policy, economics, development, society and culture, vocational education, non-formal education, and basic education or another studies relevant to the discussion of SDGs.

A total of 127 application were received. We carefully reviewed all of them and invited 70 participants to join us in Padang, Indonesia. Additionally, we accepted a total of 35 best papers to be published in our conference proceedings at Atlantis Press. All the papers accepted for publication correspond to the conference profile and reflect theoretical and empirical results of independent research projects. At least two experts rigorously reviewed each papers, and the team of editors carefully compiled them into one volume. We hope that the papers included in this proceedings will provide new insights and ideas for the readers and other researchers interested in studying the topics in non-formal education related to SDGs.

We would like to thank the organizing committee and the members of reviewers for their kind assistances in reviewing the papers. We would also like to extend our best gratitude to Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D.; Dean of Faculty of Education, Dr. Alwen Bentri, M.Pd. for the tremendous support. Furthermore, we would like to thank Prof. Peter Suwarno (Arizona State University, USA), Dr. Mee Yong Choi. (Head of Education at UNESCO), Robert Gardiner (Executive Director of Junior Achievement Worldwide, The United State of America), Prof. Dr. Jamari, M.Pd. (Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Solfema, M.Pd. (Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia) as the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and ideas shared in the seminar.
