Proceedings of the Mizoram Science Congress 2018 (MSC 2018) - Perspective and Trends in the Development of Science Education and Research

If it were not for the Mizoram Science Congress this book will never be laid open. This is the culmination of the Mizoram Science Congress held on 4-5 October 2018 that comprised of scientific exhibitions, Children Science Congress and technical presentations. The grand event was graciously and gracefully hosted by the only top-graded college in Mizoram, Pachhunga University College, Aizawl, India.

This is the second event of the Mizoram Science Congress, which was launched in 2016 at the Mizoram University. It received an unexpected appreciation from the students, teachers, and the public as well. The technical proceedings was brought out in a humble and small-scale printout titled Science and Technology for Shaping Mizoram. The organisers wanted more. This time the prestigious Atlantis Press, headquartered in Paris, France, accepted our proposal and to publish this book, for which we are immensely grateful.

The congress was organised under the patronage of the Mizoram Science, technology and Innovation Council (MISTIC), an autonomous branch of the Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of Mizoram. MISTIC is dependably supported in its activities by the major scientific organisations in Mizoram; the physical and intellectual endeavours were shared by the Mizo Academy of Sciences (MAS), Mizoram Science Society (MSS), Science Teacher’s Association Mizoram (STAM), Mizoram Mathematics Society (MMS), Geological Society of Mizoram (GSM), and Biodiversity and Nature Conservation Network (BIOCONE) from the trifles to the most arduous. Their dedication to science education and research is heartily commended.

With all the sincere contributions from scientists, regardless of the shortcomings from the editors and the Mizoram Science Congress organisers, this book is put before you with an earnest hope that it might add a little bit of spice to the scientific cuisine.
