It is my great pleasure to present the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Key Enabling Technologies (KEYTECH 2024), held from September 1–2, 2024, at Dublin City University, Ireland. The conference brought together leading experts from academia, research, and industry to exchange ideas and showcase the latest developments in fields crucial to technological advancement, including advanced manufacturing, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and engineering education, among others.

TheKEYTECHconference series, which I co-founded with my colleague and friend, Prof. Ibrahim Gaidan, in 2019, is nowin its 4th edition. This year’s conferencewas organised as part of three Erasmus+ funded projects: BIOMED5.0, GetInnovative4Impact, and CALLME. Erasmus+ is a European Union program focused on supporting education, training, and capacity building. Through these projects, Erasmus+ aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and cross-border knowledge exchange.

KEYTECH 2024 conference proceedings represent the collaborative work of many distinguished researchers whose contributions are pushing the boundaries of knowledge in key enabling technologies (KETs) and engineering education. The papers included in the proceedings were selected after a rigorous peer-review process, reflecting both the breadth and depth of research in the field. The scope of the conference extended to KETs, which are recognised for their potential to fuel economic growth, address societal challenges, and improve quality of life through innovation. Moreover, a special session on engineering education was conducted to present and discuss innovative teaching methodologies, the integration of KETs into engineering curricula, and strategies to prepare the next generation of engineers for the demands of rapidly evolving technological landscapes.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all participants, including the authors for their high-quality submissions, the reviewers for their invaluable feedback, and the keynote speakers for their thought-provoking insights. A special thank you is also extended to the organising committee, without whose efforts this event would not have been possible.

I invite you to explore the contents of these proceedings and look forward to continued progress in key enabling technologies that will shape the future.

Sincerely,

Inam Ul Ahad
