1st International Scientific Practical Conference “The Individual and Society in the Modern Geopolitical Environment” (ISMGE 2019). This new rebranded multidisciplinary conference “The Individual and Society in the Modern Geopolitical Environment” (ISMGE 2019, https://www.picconf.ru.net/conference-ismge-wos-volsu) was first held on 23-29 May 2019 at the Institute of Philology and intercultural communication, Volgograd state university, Volgograd, Russian Federation. ISMGE'2019 covers a wide rage of humanities and social sciences.

PhD students, teachers, scientists, research workers of higher educational institutions, research institutes and industrial enterprises were invited to participate in the conference.

The Conference provided an interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and scholars to present and discuss the most recent innovations and developments in the field of new cognitive technologies, international education and education methods in primary, secondary and higher education, linguistic and linguosemiotic aspects of the world languages, educational technologies and ICT applied to humanitarian research, state educational policy and creating educational environment for students with special needs, economics, law, ethics, tourism and ecology of the city.

The current issue also includes materials of the IV International Scientific Practical Conference “Lower-Volga Readings on Urban Environment in its Regional Social and Technical Contexts” (LVR-UERSC'2019). This conference added research papers aimed at urban environment and its multi-facet aspects: the earth sciences, resource management, pollution control, environmental communication, economics of natural resources, eco-technologies, social sciences, social inclusion, law enforcement, healthcare, environmental and public policy commitment in rural and urban areas, urban e-services, financial issues of sustainable development, city tourism, smart city concept, city culture and human security, cluster strategy, globalization, gap pattern, digital media, urban discourse.

Besides that, the issue managed to include the topics of the last year’s International Conference on the Theory and Practice of Personality Formation in Modern Society (ICTPPFMS-18) (https://www.atlantis-press.com/proceedings/ictppfms-18, September, 20-22, 2018, Yurga Institute of Technology of Tomsk Polytechnic University, Yurga, Russia): psychological and educational problems of personality development, the role of religion as an institution for socialization of individuals, an impact of patriotic education on personal development, principles and methods of personality socialization in global information society, modern and traditional orthodox ways of overcoming addictions.
