- Abstract
Development of institutional repositories (IRs) has become an essential approach for ensuring preservation, accessibility, and long -term sustainability of academic resources. This study examines the design and implementation of Institutional Repository at Shillong College to enhance academic accessibility through digitization and open access. Open-source platform Dspace was use and hosted on cloud-based server, the repository was integrated into the College Website to provide centralised access to the intellectual output of the institution. The repository comprises a wide range of resources, including edited books, faculty-authored books, conference, seminars and workshops proceedings, students project and college magazines. The study highlights how institutional repository help to preserve fragile materials improve institutional visibility and promote knowledge sharing within and beyond the academic community. Finding of the study indicate that a well-planned institutional repository can serve as a sustainable model for mid-sized institutions who wants to preserve scholarly contributions and expand their global reach. The study concludes with recommendations future enhancements to ensure the repository remains a vital resource for the academic community.
