The 2020 5th International Conference on Social Sciences and Economic Development (ICSSED 2020) was held on March 6-8, 2020. After successfully held for four times, the fifth conference was held via online platform due to the COVID-19 crisis, which is different from the previous traditional way. Despite the distance, online ICSSED 2020 provides a flexible platform for experts and scholars in the field of Social Sciences and Economic Development to disseminate the state-of-the-art research. It also enhances academic exchange and cooperation between China and other foreign countries.

In this conference, we were honored to have Prof. Hanmin Liu, Jinan University, China, to chair ICSSED 2020. Our Committee is composed of more than 50 experts in the field of Social Sciences and Economic Development from home and abroad. During the conference, we were pleased to invite three distinguished experts to present their insightful speeches. Senior Assoc. Prof. Eddy S. Fang, Xi’an Jiaotong – Liverpool University, China, shared his study on Graduate Education Decision and the Formation of Human Capital: An Exploratory Experiment on Choice Antecedents and Preferences in China. Prof. Anubha Srivastava, UNDIP university Semarang, Indonesia, held a speech on the topic of Ind AS (IFRS converged standards) Adoption & Implementation in India –An assessment of readiness, benefits and key challenges. Prof. Marcelo Gameiro, Hunan University of Science and Technology, China, talked about his view on People Skills.

ICSSED 2020 aims to present the latest research and results of scientists related to Social Sciences and Economic Development. Therefore, we compiled a lot of excellent papers featuring the latest advanced studies on the following topics but not limited to: Sociology and social computing, Research on technology, society and environment, Urban and regional planning, Economic development, Financial investment, Business performance management and other related topics. All the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of International publication standard.

Thank you so much to the Chairman, the distinguished keynote speakers, as well as all the audiences. Without your supports and assistance, this conference could not continue to be successfully held after the original plan was changed. Thanks to the online platform, the online conference made it easier for more people join in our conference. We are expecting more and more experts and scholars form all over the world to join this international event next year.
