- Abstract
Experimentalresults offlat slabs cast with concrete enforced with micro-polypropylene fibers showed increased shear strength; this was attributed to increased tensile strength associated with the added fibers. It was also observed that the mid-span deflection at ultimate load increased for concrete strengths less than or equal to 30 MPa butkept the same value for concrete strengths of 40 MPa. This paper will apply a finite element model to simulate the behavior of flat slabs and verify that the increased tensile strength connected with the addition of micro-polypropylene fibers to the concrete mixdid in fact contribute to the increased shear resistance of the flat slabs.
