Proceedings of the 1st UPI International Conference on Sociology Education (UPI ICSE 2015)
The UPI International Conference on Sociology Education (UPI ICSE) 2015 is the first conference held by Sociology Education Study Program, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, on October 12, 2015. The theme of UPI ICSE 2015 is “Education for Sustainability Development and Empowering Community”, and we indeed welcome many insights from educators, researchers, artists, scholars, managers, graduate students and sociologists from different part of the worlds to present and discuss their research, developments and innovations in the fields of Sociology. The theme is to focus on the key role of education in all aspects of life, particularly in relation to develop sustainability and community empowerment. The papers in this volume have a wide range of topics, which are ethno pedagogy, ethnic relations, culture and changes, gender and human rights, identity and social cohesion, sociology of gender, social security and public health, collective behavior and social movements, and many others.
For this UPI ICSE 2015, we have accepted more than 190 papers from different topics authored by scholars and professionals. The 106 selected papers went through a strict peer-review process and will be published in a volume of conference proceedings.
So welcome to all participants and sincere thanks to the organizing committee who have made it possible to run the conference and to members of reviewers who have worked hard to review the papers. Also, we would like to express our special thanks to our plenary speakers Assoc. Prof. Beth L. Goldstein, Prof. Makoto Ito, and Prof. Dr. Dasim Budimansyah, M.Si for their insightful ideas.
