The 4th International Conference on English Language Teaching (ICON-ELT) 2023 hosted by English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Malang, is a joint international conference co-hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universitas Islam Lamongan, Indonesia, Universitas Wiralodra Indramayu, Indonesia, and Universitas Hasyim Asy’ari, Jombang, Indonesia. The conference is held on August 30–31, 2023, on a hybrid mode. This year’s theme is “The Future of ELT in the Digital Age: Issues and Innovations” and with its 20 sub-themes. This conference explores the challenges and opportunities of teaching English in the digital era. In addition, the sub-themes carry issues related to ELT curriculum, teacher professional development, technology- enhanced language learning, and applied linguistics. The conference provides forums for discussions and collaboration among researchers, lecturers, teachers, and graduate students in Indonesia and beyond, and allows them to share best practices, experiences, research, and innovations in teaching English. Lastly, papers presented at this conference are published in numerous scholarly publication platforms such as national-indexed proceedings, national-indexed journals, international proceedings by Atlantis Press, and reputable international journals.

The conference invites keynote speakers to share their insights related to English language teaching from diverse perspectives, such as from Australia (Dr. Ahmar Mahboob, The University of Sydney), Singapore (Dr.Willy A. Renandya, Nanyang Technological University), and Indonesia (Prof. Anita Lie, Ed.D, Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya and Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Universitas Islam Malang). In addition, this year’s conference features two distinguished and young invited speakers to share their knowledge on current issues in ELT, such as Ribut Wahyudi, M.Ed., Ph.D (Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Indonesia) and Prof. Anita Triastuti, M.A., Ph.D (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Indonesia).
