Abstract

Culture plays a crucial role in connecting the past and the future throughout the development of human history. Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, with a long history, integrates red culture and Buddhist culture, boasting unique characteristics. Putuo Guanyin Cake in Zhoushan has a profound historical and cultural background. In 2012, the traditional processing technique of Putuo Guanyin Cake was included in the fourth batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Putuo District. The packaging of traditional pastries is of great significance in their sales, storage and circulation. Based on this, this paper takes Putuo’s regional cultural characteristics as the starting point, expounds the importance of regional culture to the packaging design of traditional pastries, and analyzes the existing problems in the outer packaging design of Putuo Guanyin Cake. By studying the ways of cultural inheritance and integration, this paper explores the path of integrating regional cultural characteristics into gift packaging design, aiming to enhance the market competitiveness of products, enrich their cultural connotation, optimize user experience, and enable regional cultural characteristics to show new vitality in gift packaging design.
