- Abstract
Starting from the history of female filial piety culture, this paper explores the performance of filial piety in the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. In feudal society, the mother-in-law was inferior to her daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law obeyed her mother-in-law without violating her laws. During the Period of the Republic of China, both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were deeply influenced by the feudal filial piety. Nowadays, the status of women has improved, both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are independent personality, living on their own. Although there are conflicts, there are few extreme opposites. On the whole, they get along with the same interests. From the perspective of filial piety in the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, the relationship between people today is more rational and loving.
