Proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on Languages and Arts (ICLA 2017)

The 6th International Conference on Languages and Arts (ICLA) 2017 was held by the Faculty of Languages and Arts of Universitas Negeri Padang on October 18-19, 2017 at Pangeran Beach Hotel Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. This 6th Conference elevates a theme “Innovation in Language and Arts”. Researchers and practitioners are believed to have put their efforts in finding ways to solve problems/difficulties, to sustain, and at the same time enhance good practices. This conference hopes to introduce and discuss what and how innovations have been made by the researchers and practitioners in language and arts.

There were 202 abstracts submitted from various topics. Then, 104 papers were presented in the conference including: Curriculum and Materials Development, Research and Methodology, Professional Development, Policy and Practice in Assessment, Language Skills and Language Components, Teaching Literature, Teaching Arts, Literature Studies, Linguistics Studies, Performance and Fine Arts Studies. Seventy three papers were accepted to be published at the proceedings published by Atlantis Press, namely Advances in Social Science, Education and Humanities Research through a strict double blind peer-reviewed process. Each paper in this proceeding was reviewed by two reviewers.

The 6th ICLA was attended by 217 participants including educators, policy makers, researchers, academics/lecturers, principals, supervisors, graduate students, practitioners, academics, professionals and teachers. The participants and presenters came from Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Germany.

We would like to thank the organizing committee and the members of reviewers for their kind assistances in reviewing the papers. We would also like to extend our best gratitude to Governor of West Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Irwan Prayitno, Psi., M.Sc.; Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D.; Dean of Faculty of Languages and Arts, Prof. Dr. M.
