Abstract

Based on data from The National Sleep Foundation (2007), There is more than 79% of women in the United States reported experiencing sleep disturbances during pregnancy than at other times. According to the World Health Organization (2015), depression is the fourth most serious health problem in the world. Research by Rezaei et al (2015) results 79% of pregnant women experiencing sleep disorders and 70% experiencing symptoms of depression. The cross-sectional study population in this study is third trimester of pregnant women at The Public Health Centre in Bengkulu City. The Sample was performed on 95 pregnant women with accidental sampling technique. The sample collection was conducted with a quality sleep questionnaire PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) and a BDI (Beck's Depression Inventory) depression questionnaire. Univariate analysis, bivariate tested with Chi-Square and multivariate tested with logistic regression. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the quality of sleep with the incidence of depression in the third trimester of pregnant women. Multivariate analysis is known that sleep quality variables are most associated with the incidence of depression. Practicioners are advised to screen for sleep quality disorders during pregnancy to prevent depression to pregnant women.
