Abstract

“Seventeen-year-old Bicycle” tells about the living conditions of rural migrant workers and the people at the bottom of the city during the period of reform and opening up in the 1980s and 1990s. The film uses a bicycle as a medium to cast its perspective on marginal figures in the real society, showing the little people’s pursuit and loss of identity and self-worth in the city.
