Proceedings of the 2020 3rd International Conference on Humanities Education and Social Sciences (ICHESS 2020)

After successfully held for two consecutive years, 2020 3rd International Conference on Humanities Education and Social Sciences (ICHESS 2020) was successfully held during October 23-25, 2020 in Chengdu, China. ICHESS 2020 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Humanities Education and Social Sciences to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in Humanities Education and Social Sciences and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in Humanities Education and Social Sciences and related areas.

This year, more than 130 participants took part in the conference and we were greatly honored to have six professors to serve as our conference chairman and three industry elites as our keynote speakers. The conference model was divided into two sessions, including oral presentations and keynote speeches. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given 15 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches.

In the keynote presentations part, Asso. Prof. Muhammad Faizal bin A. Ghani, from University of Malaya, Malaya as our first keynote speaker. His current research area is in Educational Leadership (Management & Administration), Educational Finance and Education Policy. He held a speech on Development of Global Leadership Competency Model for Malaysian Educational Leaders. This presentation delved into global leadership competency model for educational leaders in Malaysia and introduced that Public organizations were in need of leaders with the global leadership competency, skills and abilities in order to be in congruence with globalization issues as the education evolves with the impetus of global issues. In addition, we had A. Prof. Susan Bridges, Faculty of Education/ Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), The University of Hong Kong, China to present her latest research on The “human” in post-COVID-19 education: Designing curricula with learning interactions at the centre. In this talk, she drew on her experience with designing and researching inquiry-based courses and programmes in professional programmes (Health Professions and Teacher Education). The results of these interactional studies may inform avenues for Humanities and Social Sciences online curriculum designs that can enhance human connection with and between our students to support their achievement of course and programme learning outcomes. Prof. Junhua Du, our third keynote speaker, from Chongqing University, China delivered a speech on Comparative study on pricing models of urban public bicycle systems. The study found that neither the non-charging public pond resource model nor the high-charging private goods model are not suitable for the operation of China's public bicycle system. In view of this, in order to promote the effective operation of the urban public bicycle system, the government should actively participate in and provide appropriate financial subsidies and policy support.
