- Abstract
The interaction between Chinese and foreign literature after the founding of the People’s Republic of China is inseparable from the translation work. As an important window for translating and introducing various cultural and literary works from all over the world, the magazine World Literature, published in Chinese in China, brought fresh foreign cultural elements to Chinese literary circle in the 1950s and 1960s, and also became an important link in the construction of contemporary Chinese literary translation history. The monograph Translation, Literature and Politics: A Case Study of World Literature (1953–1966) is an important book to take World Literature as the object of systematic research. Under the theoretical observation of translation and ideology, poetics, patronage and other theories, through the diachronical collection of historical data and the horizontal discussion of literature polysystem, it shows the readers the real and vivid situation of the translation and introduction of world literature in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It has deepened the understanding of the interaction between translation and literature in contemporary China, and shed light on the research methods of translated literature.
