- Abstract
This study is devoted to the issues of accessibility of fashion for people with visual impairments. We discuss the experience of teaching personal stylists to work and interact with visually impaired people within the “Blind Fashion” project. The project was aimed at helping the blind participants select the appropriate clothes and look attractive. The article investigates the existing problems and possible solutions, explains the major differences in consulting blind and sighted people and what to consider when working with this category of clients. The study is practical and is based on interview excerpts and real insights shared by blind participants and stylists of our project. The research may be useful for personal stylists, fashion experts, image consultants, psychologists and all the people who are interested in the issues of fashion, image consulting and inclusion.
