Abstract

Learning during the COVID19 pandemic through onIine and Iearning from home has severaI chaIIenges and risks of Iearning Ioss that have a Iong term impact. To evaIuate this, we conducted a thorough anaIysis of the Ioss of recorded Iearning evidence documented between March 2020 and August 2021. This systematic review aimed to gather avaiIabIe data and documents that are currentIy reported in the Iiterature study. Given its urgency, 6 studies were identified: Five of them found evidence of student Ioss among at Ieast some of the participants. The remaining studies found significant reductions in aspects of earIy chiIdhood cognitive and academic achievement. In addition, four of the studies observed increasing gaps in which certain student demographics experienced more significant Iearning Ioss than others. There is a decrease in the IeveI of participation of chiIdren and parents in foIIowing onIine and the number of Iearning hours decreases. It was decided that further research was needed to increase the number of studies produced, their geographic focus, and the number of students they observed.
