Abstract

With the development of the World Wide Web, online socialization has become more and more widespread. The influence of online communication on the identity of homosexual groups has become a topic with discussion value. Through the approach of literature review and theoretical analysis, this study combines previous articles and communication theories to analyze the relationship between the identity behavior characteristics of sexual minority groups and online socialization in the present time. It is demonstrated that the Internet promotes gay self-identification through self-escape, disengagement from old social networks and group support. This process is also accompanied by the risk of detachment from reality and online fraud.
