Abstract

General Background: Human resource management plays a critical role in organizational success by optimizing employee capabilities, particularly in the context of rapid digital transformation and evolving workforce characteristics. Specific Background: Generation Z, characterized by technological adaptability, flexibility preferences, and career development orientation, requires tailored management strategies to align with organizational goals, as observed in Toko Utama Elektrik. Knowledge Gap: Despite growing attention to Generation Z in the workplace, limited qualitative insights exist regarding how specific human resource management strategies address their unique characteristics to improve employee performance in trading sector contexts. Aims: This study aims to analyze Generation Z human resource management strategies and their role in improving employee performance through a qualitative approach involving interviews, observation, and documentation. Results: The findings indicate that structured job descriptions, implementation of standard operating procedures, digital adaptation, training initiatives, career development opportunities, and collaborative work environments contribute to improved employee performance, responsiveness, and operational efficiency. Generation Z employees demonstrate strong adaptability, innovation, and technological competence, which support organizational progress. Novelty: This study provides an in-depth qualitative exploration of Generation Z human resource management strategies within a real organizational setting, highlighting the integration of digital orientation and employee-centered development practices. Implications: Organizations should design adaptive human resource strategies emphasizing training, flexibility, technological integration, and career development to align with Generation Z characteristics and sustain performance in dynamic work environments.
