At present, our country has entered the era of “big data cloud migration”, that is, the era of big data, the Internet of Things, cloud computing and mobile Internet. The market demand for big data talents is also increasing day by day. This Conference mainly focused on “big data”, “social science” and other relevant research fields, providing an opportunity for related scholars to participate in the Conference and share ideas and exchange experience. ICBDSS 2023 has kindled validated discussions on the technological advancements, recent trends, various issues of sustainability, and the solutions adopted to address these issues in the amalgamating fields of big data and social sciences by embodying innovative ideas and pivoting advanced technologies. Emphasis was attributed to the recent developments in the fields of big data and social sciences. The Conference was made stimulating and informative by four keynote speeches delivered by the pioneers of the fields from different corners of the world as well as many oral and poster presentations. Among this wonderful array of addresses, Prof. You-Gan Wang (Australian Catholic University, Australia) delivered his talk on Contemporary Challenges in Applying Data Science to Social Sciences, Prof. Neema Ghenim (Oran 2 University Mohamed Ben Ahmed, Algeria) delivered her talk on Exploring Big Data for Social Science Research in Algeria: Pushing the Door of Opportunities and Challenges, Prof. Hongbing Cheng (Zhejiang University of Technology, China) delivered his talk on The Concept, Application, and Security of Big Data. Prof. You-Gan Wang delved into the dynamic field of data science as it intersects with social sciences, highlighting pertinent challenges and exploring statistical aspects alongside machine learning algorithms. What’s more, attendees interacted actively with each other, exchanging views on the topics concerned and sharing their unique experience on the development trends and research directions.
