Abstract

“Gesar” Tangka is an important theme of Zhongtang in Tibetan Buddhism, along with the creation and circulation of the epic of “Gesar”, “Gesar” Tangka was originally hung from the rap scene to temple and Buddhist hall for worship, in the pursuit of aesthetics, it has experienced the change from secularization to sanctification. Since the 1980s, the rescue of “Gesar” epic, the rise of market economy, and the initiation of intangible cultural heritage protection have made the creation of “Gesar” Tangka obtain great vitality. At the same time, the change of creators' identity, the diversity of artistic expression and the diversification of their functions make Tangka the aesthetic pursuit of secularization, sacredness and artistry.
