The 2021 International Academic Conference on Applied Science and engineering technology was held at the international academic exchange center of Qingdao University, Shandong Province, China from July 25 to 26, 2021. The conference provided a platform for academicians, researchers, scientists, industrial professionals, and students to unleash their research work and created a forum for effective sharing of ideas to face the future global challenges from the perspective of rising trends in Engineering and Technology. ICASET-2021 facilitated discussions in the areas of past, present, and future research works. The conference was jointly organized by the State Key Laboratory of Bio-Fibers and Eco-Textiles of Qingdao University, the Computational Science and Engineering Center of Qingdao University and the American Association of Computing Sciences.

This two-day technical conference included keynote addresses, oral presentations and poster presentations to create inspiration and encouraged fruitful discussions among the researchers. Total twelve eminent professionals delivered keynote and invited sessions on recent developments in Engineering technology, computational science, ocean engineering, biochemistry, medical engineering, engineering pedagogy and other fields. The conference also provided exhibition opportunities to showcase their research works and products. The participants rejuvenated their skills in the thrust areas. The conference received more than 100 manuscripts from all over the world. Through the review of the organizing committee, we decided to publish 31 manuscripts.

In addition, the impact of COVID-19 on global travel. The conference was fully supported by Qingdao municipal government and Qingdao University. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the epidemic prevention personnel, conference staff and sponsors.
