- Abstract
The unstructured placement of pipes in Yard 2 warehouse led to increased retrieval times for finished goods and disrupted the loading process. This study applied the Dedicated Storage method to optimize travel distance and reduce the time required for dispatching finished goods. Data were collected through direct observation, including material movement data, inbound records, and pipe loading activities. These datasets were analyzed to calculate travel distances and determine the optimal storage locations. The implementation of Dedicated Storage resulted in a 6.9% reduction in travel distance and a significant 63.1% decrease in loading time. These improvements highlight the effectiveness of structured storage allocation in enhancing warehouse efficiency. Based on the findings, a key recommendation involves redesigning the warehouse layout to better accommodate raw material storage and streamline workflow. This study demonstrates that systematic storage strategies contribute to improved operational performance, reduced handling times, and more efficient logistics processes within industrial warehouse environments.
