- Abstract
In this paper, the effect of the zinc nitrate concentration on the morphology and optical properties of ZnO nanorod arrays synthesized by hydrothermal method was investigated. The microstructure, morphology and optical properties of the as-prepared samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and photoluminescence spectrum (PL). The results show that the ZnO nanorods had wurzite structures with cell parameters of a=3.249Å and c=5.026Å. The morphology and average diameter of ZnO nanorod arrays were found to be dependent on the Zn(NO3)2 concentrations. The diameter of ZnO nanorod arrays increase with the increase in the mole density of the Zn(NO3)2. The value and position of PL spectra also were varied by changing the concentration of the Zn(NO3)2 precursor.
