- Abstract
Safety induction is crucial to providing essential safety information to new workers, guests, and other individuals involved in the company’s production activities. The primary objective of safety induction is to communicate potential hazards present in the workplace or during visits, ensuring that appropriate control measures are understood and implemented. An effective safety induction program not only enhances individual awareness of workplace safety but also contributes to the overall well-being of coworkers by fostering a safe and responsible work environment. This study employs an observational research design conducted at Nii Tanasa PLTU, located in Lalonggasumeeto District, Konawe Regency, Kendari City, in 2024. Data was collected through field observations, interviews, and literature studies, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the safety induction process and its effectiveness in enhancing workplace safety. Implementing safety induction at Nii Tanasa PLTU is a fundamental initiative to ensure workplace safety for new workers, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in company activities. This process is carried out through two structured stages: educational safety induction videos and post-tests. The educational videos serve as an information medium that conveys essential workplace safety principles, including hazard identification, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Meanwhile, the post-test is an assessment tool to measure participants’ comprehension of the safety induction materials, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge to work safely within the PLTU environment. By adopting this structured approach, the safety induction program is expected to enhance employees’ awareness and understanding of workplace safety, promote compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, and cultivate a strong safety culture within the organization. Ultimately, this initiative is crucial in reducing workplace hazards, minimizing risks, and fostering a safer and more efficient work environment at Nii Tanasa PLTU.
