- Abstract
This paper explores sustainable material selection in architecture, stressing the need for renewable, recycled, locally sourced, durable, and energy-efficient materials, analyzed through Life Cycle Analysis. It presents challenges in cost, availability, and regulation, and includes case studies on a green-roofed commercial building and a straw bale house. Future trends like self-healing concrete, bio-based composites, and the role of material passports are discussed, advocating for a multidisciplinary approach to integrate sustainability in the built environment.
