- Abstract
A company that produces porcelain tableware experiences problems in storing materials in its warehouses, which results in their materials being positioned randomly based on available space and placing deadstock in the front area. Many storage areas remain underutilized, causing some materials to be stored outside their designated areas. This situation makes it difficult for warehouse operators to handle materials with the highest movement due to their irregular position, resulting in a very high travel distance for the material from January to June 2025. This study aims to provide suggestions for more practical and efficient material storage. The class-based storage method is applied to solve the problem by classifying materials based on their movement value and divided into classes A, B, and C. After classification, nine materials were identified for as class A or fast moving, another nine other materials as class B or slow moving, 55 materials as class C or non-moving, and seven items as deadstock, materials making a total of 80 materials. The class-based storage method can also reduce the total distance traveled by up to 41%.
