Abstract

This study explores the determinants influencing IoT adoption of in supply chain management within Chinese e-commerce to help promote the use of IoT technology. The study expands the TOE model by incorporating compatibility, transparency, information security, innovation capability, employee capability, management perception, competitive pressure, market demand to analyze their influence on IoT adoption. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse and test the study model, based on a sample of 308 e-commerce managers from various departments involved in IoT adoption in supply chain management. The findings show that compatibility, transparency, information security, innovation capability, employee capability, management perception, competitive pressure, market demand all have a positive impact on IoT adoption. The contribution of innovation capability and market demand are significant for IoT adoption. Practical implications for this study identify and validates the key factors that influence enterprise IoT adoption, providing companies with a clear direction and areas of focus when deciding whether to adopt IoT technologies. The findings help managers allocate resources more effectively to enhance their organization’s competitiveness. Additionally, the various factors affecting the adoption of IoT in e-commerce supply chain management in China are explored.
