In the current situation of rapid economic development, the competition in the market is increasingly fierce. In order to improve their competitive advantages and market share, enterprises must optimize their management methods and build a modern business administration system. And data science is one of the most important tools for optimizing business administration.

Based on this background, the 2024 4th International Conference on Business Administration and Data Science (BADS 2024) was held to discuss the state of modern business administration and the corresponding improvement measures in the context of the current reality. It provided a platform for scholars in related fields to exchange and share information, discuss how the two affect each other, and promote the modernization of business administration by studying certain business administration issues, and created an international-level forum for sharing, research, and exchange that exposed participants to the latest research directions, results, and content in different fields, inspiring them to come up with new research ideas.

The organization of this conference stimulated the innovative enthusiasm of the researchers and promoted the technological progress and industrial upgrading in business administration. In the conference, Associate Professor Tan Swee Chuan (Singapore University of Social Sciences, Singapore) illustrated the effectiveness of the Business- Data-Analytics Mind-Mapping approach for Analytics Projects management through real-world case studies in visual analytics, customer segmentation, and predictive analytics, demonstrating how this methodology can uncover actionable insights that drive improved business performance. Associate Professor Chuan Luo (Sichuan University, China) introduced their recent research works targeting scalable feature selection from multiple perspectives: Spark rough hypercuboid approach for scalable feature selection, large-scale meta-heuristic feature selection based on BPSO assisted rough hypercuboid approach, and RHDOFS: a distributed online algorithm towards scalable streaming feature selection. Participants engaged in these heated discussions and exchanges on the topics raised and derived.

The conference was fruitful, with attendees delivering and submitting numerous high-quality academic papers and research achievements. These contributions cover various aspects of business administration and data science, both theoretical discussions and practical case studies, fully demonstrating the latest research results and thinking of scholars at home and abroad in this field. We believe that these results will have a profound impact on promoting the development of global business administration.
