Atlantis Press Publishes 100,000th Open Access Article
Atlantis Press reached a significant milestone this week by publishing the 100,000th open access article on its platform. Articles are available in 15 proceedings series and 12 journals across various STM disciplines and are all freely accessible for everyone to read. This achievement is testament to the success of the company's open access strategy which has led to significant content growth in recent years with 50% of the total volume of articles being added to the platform in the last 2 years. Moreover, it can be expected that this growth will continue and further accelerate in years to come: Atlantis Press is still adding new proceedings series to the portfolio as well as expanding its journals offering by launching several new journals and by attracting an increasing number of society journals.
Earlier this month, Atlantis Press also achieved a milestone in terms of article usage by reaching the mark of 20 million downloads over the last 12 months with the average number of downloads per month exceeding 1.6 million during this period. Again it can be expected that this increase in usage will continue as the company's portfolio grows. These positive trends are further underpinned by a clear improvement in content quality metrics as well: the number of Atlantis Press journals and series getting indexed in key databases continues to increase and both Impact Factors and CiteScores for Atlantis Press serials went up significantly in 2018. Zeger Karssen, owner and founder of Atlantis Press, concludes: "In an era of increasing open access, Atlantis Press is clearly striking the right chord in meeting the needs of both our authors and readers alike. We therefore feel very comfortable about our strategy and direction for the immediate future.".
